How do we green our cities and plant the trees we so urgently need when the space below street level is already packed with cables, pipes, and infrastructure? On Wednesday 14 October landscape architect Joyce van den Berg shares her experience. Register now for this Talk.

In this Rewild Talk, Joyce van den Berg brings over twenty years of experience as head designer for the City of Amsterdam, where she has spent recent years specialising in exactly this question: how to reconcile ambitious greening goals with the crowded reality of underground infrastructure. Drawing on her practice-based experience as initiator and author of the Integrale Ontwerpmethode Openbare Ruimte (IOOR) and the BiodiverCITY project, she will show how putting soil, water, and long-term integral thinking at the heart of design, execution, and management leads to quality public space that is ready for the future.

The session continues with a reflection from Ghent, on current practices and potential innovations as part of the Rewild the City project, followed by a joint Q&A.

A valuable session for anyone working on urban greening, tree planting, or public space design in Belgium and beyond.
